The EU partners have specific tasks and topics within the project. The project consists of six work packages, which are to be processed within specific time periods. Tasks for all EU partners are organizing regional events to make biogas as a well known fuel and performing public relations on Baltic Biogas Bus.
The ATI erc will lead the dialogue with transport companies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in northern Germany and gather technical researches into the implementation of biogas or hydrogen as a fuel in Germany within the project. Furthermore the ATI erc leads a working group that prepares studies for the use of biogas in public transport.
Public relations, exchange of the EU partners and implementation of biogas buses in public transport in Germany
The tasks of the ATI erc consist in particular of:
- Coordination of Work Package 4 with the theme: „Ensuring the supply of biogas“, consultation with the participating EU partners
- Preparation of two seminars in St. Petersburg for knowledge transfer of biogas and exchange of project partners in collaboration with the University of St. Petersburg as an external partner
- Support for transport companies and municipalities in MV for the implementation of biogas as a fuel for public transport
- Feasibility study for the „production of biogas from food waste in the Rostock region“
- professional studies to the technical concept of biogas busses
It will examine the practicability of the use of upgraded biogas or any mixture of upgraded biogas and hydrogen in a monovalent designed combustion engine.
There may be several ways to store this hydrogen and biogas. The best solution should be found within the studies. Furthermore, the possible integration of fuel cell technology in a biogas bus should be examined. The on-board power supply for the electrical consumption as well as for the heating and air conditioning has to take place by a SOFC fuel cell. With these previous considerations, the following studies are performed.
